Rev. Rhonda Simpkins
Pastor of Care
Rev. Rhonda Simpkins
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Rhonda Simpkins was raised in Scotland Neck, NC, and attended the Halifax County school system. In 2010, she attended Apex School of Theology and received an Associate Degree in Christian Education.
Rhonda relocated to Durham, North Carolina, and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in early 1991. Through a series of dreams and prophecies, she realized that she had been called into ministry.
Rhonda states “Ever since I accepted Christ, God has spoken to me in dreams and I have not always understood the dream’s meanings, but along with the word and answered prayers I came to the realization that this was the path God had chosen for me.”
While working at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), her boss at the time said to her, “Rhonda, I see you as some type of biblical scholar, but you are just reading the word. He gave her an almost complete set of study guides to the books of the Bible to help her study the word in depth. From this, she was able to gain a greater insight into the mind, heart, and character of God. With the knowledge of God, she gained greater knowledge of herself. This has helped her
to grow tremendously and strengthened her for the trials that she has had to face.
She is the proud mother of one son, Marcellus, and daughter-in-law Wanda, and has six wonderful grandchildren.
Rhonda became a member of Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC in 2007, she was licensed to preach the gospel in 2010 by the founding Pastor of Redeeming Love, Rev. Dr. T.K. Ashley, Sr.
She is currently one of the Pastor of Care at Redeeming Love, where she teaches the adult Sunday School, is currently the leader of the Calls of Care Ministry, a member of The Outreach Ministry, and leads the Morning Manna Prayer and Noonday Prayer Call every Thursday afternoon.
Early in her Christian walk, she learned the importance of a dedicated prayer life.
Rhonda says: “Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, she has always felt the unction to pray, to talk and listen to the voice of God. She learned that prayer is much more than simply talking to God. We must listen for the answers to our prayers and be willing to follow and obey the commands of God.”
Her Favorite scripture is Psalms 27:13, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
